Forwarding your e-mail to another address: If you want your e-mail to be forwarded to some other e-mail address automatically, you need to place a file called .forward in your home directory on the mail server. The file should have only one line containing the email address you want your mail to be forwarded to. "Home directory" is the disk space allocated to you on our UNIX servers. The server on which you need to place this file will depend on your account's domain. Please see here to find your email server.
The Bilkent BCC and UG mail servers and hence the home directories on these servers are not directly accessible by the users. A special menu driven tool is provided on BCC and UG email servers which assist users in setting up, modifying and removing e-mail forwarding for their accounts.
In order to use this menu driven tool, users need to login to their email servers using any telnet client software. Once the login is successful, users will see a menu, using which they can manipulate their mail forwarding easily.
What do you want to do?
1. Specify a forward address for your e-mail.
(All e-mail you receive will be forwarded to this address.)
2. Stop forwarding.
(All e-mail you receive will be stored on this server.)
3. Start the "vacation" service
(An automated reply will be sent to people sending you e-mail.)
4. Stop the "vacation" service
5. Start SPAM filtering for this account.
